On May 1st, IRCC selected its first round of candidates under the new education category pathway for Canadian permanent residence. This Express Entry category-based draw was announced in February for eligible foreign trained schoolteachers, early childhood educators, and other professionals in education.

To qualify under the education category, candidates must have six months of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time experience) within the last three years, in a single category-eligible occupation. It is important that candidates identify the NOC code that best describes their work experience under one of the eligible education occupations. For this draw, 1000 candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 479 and a valid Express Entry profile were issued the Invitations to Apply (ITAs).

Unsure about which NOC code applies to your experience as an educator? A small mistake can cost you your spot. Working with an immigration lawyer can help ensure your application is accurate and competitive. Schedule a consultation today to prepare for the next draw!
